Description
Book 4: The Boundary Book
For years I thought I couldn’t write this book.
Every time I sat down to write a story about consent, I found myself looking at the world through adult eyes. I was thinking about the difficult headlines we read in the news…
Then last week, after five years of staring at the same document, the penny finally dropped.
I wasn’t struggling to write a book about consent.
I was struggling because children aren’t thinking about consent.
They’re thinking:
“Stop tickling me.”
“Give me back my toy.”
“I don’t want a hug.”
They’re learning about boundaries.
And that’s the book I’ve finally realised I need to write.
Children are learning about boundaries.
They are learning that their voice matters.
They are learning that they can say no.
They are learning that other people can say no too.
And that’s where this story begins.
Book 4: The Boundary Book (working title) is the fourth children’s book from Thea Chops Books and explores boundaries, choice, respect and personal space through a child-friendly rhyming story.
The book is currently being written and illustrated
