The high alert awareness we have when walking alone. And that even the good guys don’t know how that must feel and forget it’s a thing. This is not a post against Paul Mescal. It was back in 2017 and She’s Not Good for a Girl, She’s Just Good! was my first book baby. And some parents sent me some lovely images of them and their babies reading it! And I couldn’t help but wonder… So! What would you say? If you had the chance to go b What would you say? If you had the chance to go back and talk to your younger self? I would say the same thing that I say to Thea all the time: you have a voice and you can use it. All too often little girls are seen and not heard. Just sit and look pretty, don’t ruin your dress. And we grow up and become women who are talked over in meetings. Don’t be emotional. Don’t get angry. Stay in your lane. If I could go back and tell my younger self it’s okay to be emotional and angry; it means we’re human, feeling all of our emotions. And that sometimes, we can go drive in another lane. And that we have a voice, and we can use it. Today is International Day of the Girl Child. And taking inspiration from @inspiringgirlsint and their #thislittlegirlisme campaign, I’m posting this to remind myself of what I would say if I could go back in time. Today on #internationaldayofthegirl take a moment and think about what you would have said to your younger self. And hold your girls tightly. And say it to them. Who’s with me?
